Subject: URGENT MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT

The Government of the Republic of Namibia is disturbed by a notice circulating on the Internet that 18 May 2011 is a Public Holiday in Namibia. The Government wants to quash this type of misinformation to the public. The correct Public Holiday is THURSDAY 17 MAY 2012, which is Ascension Day and the holiday does not extend to 18 May 2012.

The public is kindly informed that 18 May 2012 is a normal working day and civil servants and the entire workforce throughout the country must report for work as usual.
